On September 17, the Internet Society (ISOC) announced the induction of eight Internet visionaries into the Internet Hall of Fame, recognizing their lasting contributions to the development, expansion, and governance of the global Internet. Mr. LIU Dong, Founder of the Beijing Internet Institute, Vice President of the Internet Society of China (ISC), was selected as the Inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame in 2025.

Mr. LIU's 30-year career focused on enhancing the Internet's capacity, particularly through global IPv6 deployment, establishing the world's largest IPv6 testing laboratory and first IPv6 public DNS resolver. His work on IPv6 enables more mobile devices, smart home appliances, cloud applications, and artificial intelligence services to access the Internet quickly, conveniently, and affordably.

He is the fifth Inductee from Chinese Mainland to win this honor, the previous Inductees included:

--Madam HU Qiheng, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Founding President of ISC

--Mr. QIAN Hualin, Researcher of Chinese Academy of Sciences, former Vice President of ISC

--Mr. WU Jianping, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice President and Director of Expert Consultation Committee of ISC, and 

--Mr. LI Xing, deputy director of China Education and Research Network Center, Member of Expert Consultation Committee of ISC

The Internet Hall of Fame was founded in 2012 by the Internet Society (ISOC) to recognize the role of this community. Culminating in a special ceremony held every two years generally, the Internet Hall of Fame honors Internet history, celebrates the pioneers behind its existence, and inspires the next generation of Internet champions.

The Internet Hall of Fame inductees are a select group of visionaries, leaders, and luminaries who have played an extraordinary role in the conceptualization, building, and development of the Internet on a global scale.
